Man charged after woman killed in Yass crash
A man has been charged over a crash near Yass that claimed the life of a 69-year-old woman and left three other people injured earlier this year.
A man has been charged over a crash near Yass that claimed the life of a 69-year-old woman and left three other people injured earlier this year.
Emergency services were called to the intersection of the Hume Highway and Yass Valley Way at Manton, about 10 kilometres north of Yass, shortly before 1.45pm on Saturday 25 April following reports of a two-vehicle crash.
Officers attached to The Hume Police District arrived to find a sedan and a station wagon had collided.
A 69-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the sedan, died at the scene.
The sedan's driver, a 42-year-old man, along with a 38-year-old woman and a 70-year-old man who were passengers, were taken to Canberra Hospital for treatment.
The 32-year-old woman driving the station wagon suffered minor injuries.
Following an investigation, police have charged the 42-year-old man with dangerous driving occasioning death, dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, negligent driving occasioning death, negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, and failing to give way at a give way sign or line.
He is due to appear before Yass Local Court on Thursday 1 October 2026.
