A man has been charged with a number of offences after a firearm, drugs and cash were seized during a vehicle stop in the state’s south.

About 7.45am yesterday officers attached to The Hume Police District were conducting roadside testing on the Federal Highway at Wollogorang, about 20km south-west of Goulburn, when they allegedly detected a hatchback travelling at 128km/hr in a signposted 110km/hr zone.

Police stopped the vehicle, with the 32-year-old driver allegedly producing a suspended license.

He was subjected to a roadside drug test which allegedly returned a positive reading.

A secondary test allegedly produced a positive result for cocaine and methamphetamine.

The sample has been sent for further analysis.

Police searched the car and seized a shortened rifle, magazine, 6.84g of ketamine, $2315 cash and credit cards and documents, which police will allege were stolen.

He was arrested and taken to Goulburn Police Station where he was charged with possess unauthorised firearm, possess shortened firearm without authorisation, possess prohibited drug, recklessly deal with proceeds of crime greater than $5000, two counts of goods in custody suspected being stolen (not motor vehicle) and drive, licence suspended under s 66 Fines Act.

He was also issued with an infringement for Class A motor vehicle ESL <10kmh.
