Local residents are being encouraged to ‘wrap their arms’ around Wade Lowndes’ family this weekend by supporting a special fundraiser.

Friends of the family are organising a ‘Cruise for Wade’ this Saturday (October 24), leaving Robertson at 9am and travelling through the Southern Highlands.

Organisers say it will provide an opportunity to “bring Wayne’s signature kindness to the road and to each other”.

Wayne, 40, a tradesman and truck driver from Robertson, was tragically killed on July 20 after being struck by a van on the M1 at Helensburgh, leaving behind a partner of 12 years and three children.

He was standing outside his vehicle and exchanging details after a minor collision when the accident occurred.

Saturday’s event is open to everyone – whether they knew Wade personally or if they simply want to help a local family.

Entry fee is $20 per car or bike with all proceeds going to Wade’s partner Sam and their three children Darcy, Cody and Zack.

The event will finish in Robertson with drinks, a barbecue, raffle and 50s club.

Donations will also be accepted on the day. To register for the event, go to https://www.facebook.com/share/1JNEAeqyna/
