Bowral local Lauren Cheatle is the NSW Cricket captain.

Bowral local Lauren Cheatle is the NSW Cricket captain.
Cheatle who grew up in Bowral has a deep connection to the area and is excited by the appointment.
“It’s an incredible privilege to be named captain,” said Cheatle.
“I grew up in the NSW pathway and have always looked up to the greats who wore the sky blue before me, so to now be in a position to lead this team is really special.
“My journey in cricket hasn’t been straightforward, but those experiences have shaped me and made me value every opportunity I get.
Head of Elite Female Cricket Leah Poulton said:
“Lauren has shown tremendous resilience and growth throughout her career, and this is a well-deserved opportunity for her to step into the captaincy. Lauren has been an integral part of the Breakers for nearly a decade and brings both experience and a calm, composed presence that will serve the team well. “
Cheatle, 26, has pushed through two bouts of very serious skin cancer before the age of 25. The holder of a baggy green as a test player has faced adversity, but is now on the other side and ready to lead NSW in the WCNL.
The NSW Breakers are poised to defend their WCNL title they won last season as holders of the Ruth Preddey Trophy.
NSW will play two 50-over matches against ACT at Cricket Central on September 17 and 19 before beginning their WNCL title defence against Victoria at CitiPower Centre on September 26.
