Jock enjoys his 10th pilgrimage from Queensland to Brigadoon
Name: Jock Strappe. No seriously, what’s your real name?
Name: Jock Strappe.
No seriously, what’s your real name?
Jock Strappe – that’s Strappe, not Strap.
And do you always get dressed up for Brigadoon.
Who said I was dressed up?
“You have to treat the ladies with a bit of eye candy”.
And as Jock channelled his best George Clooney (or was that Sean Connery) it was hard not to acknowledge that it’s people like Jock that make the Bundanoon Highlands Gathering what it is today.
It is not only one of the best Highland Gatherings in Australia, it one of biggest tourism events in the Southern Highlands and continues to attract thousands of people from around the nation.
This year organisers were particularly blessed.
The event may have been plagued by wet weather in the past, but Saturday was spectacular.
Beautiful autumn weather with not a cloud in the sky.
This was Jock’s 10th visit to Brigadoon.
Each year he makes his way from Queensland to provide a laugh and some added entertainment.
This year he was part of a tour organised by ‘Fun over 50s Holidays’ with Brigadoon the highlight of the trip.
Twenty-two people spending three nights in Burradoo but also enjoying some of the region’s other attractions including the Australian Wildlife Sanctuary, Centennial Vineyards and the Bradman Museum.
Jock described Brigadoon as a “spectacular” event and told The Southern Wire he would certainly be back.
It’s hard to think of another event that packs so much into a one-day program and provides the same level of entertainment for people of all ages.
