Iconic market shelved for 2026
The iconic Burrawang Easter Market has been shelved for 2026.

The iconic Burrawang Easter Market has been shelved for 2026.
Organisers haven’t ruled out the event returning in 2027 but have acknowledged “divided sentiment within the village regarding the event continuing”.
Relocation to another site may be an option.
The market – traditionally held on Easter Saturday in the village’s centre – is one of the region’s longest running.
It attracts thousands of people – local residents and visitors alike.
The Burrawang Easter Market Association announced on social media this week that it would not be proceeding with the event in 2026 after “long, significant consideration and input from many stakeholders”.
“This decision particularly weighs heavily on the committee given the market’s long and successful history and its continued popularity with stallholders, volunteers, visitors and many local residents,” it said.
The decision has been based on a number of factors including on-going works at the School of Arts, the Burrawang Hotel and the Burrawang General Store, rising costs, the challenges in securing volunteers and difficulties relating to parking and other logistics.
The event is also being managed by a smaller organising committee.
The committee says it will now take the time to “carefully consider how and where the market can be run in the future in a way that best serves all stakeholders”.
“It remains our intention to run the Burrawang Easter Market in 2027,” the committee said.
“Over the coming period the committee will focus on developing a more sustainable and cost-effective plan that delivers the best possible outcomes for residents, stallholders, volunteers and various not-for-profit organisations that benefit from the market’s financial support.”
The Burrawang Easter Market has been a major source of funding for local community organisations for more than 30 years.
However, with increasing costs and diminishing returns, next year’s event was expected to return a profit of less than $20,000.
