Goulburn representatives elected for local Youth Council
On Friday, 31 July, the Goulburn Mulwaree Youth Council held elections for the positions of Mayor and Deputy Mayor.
On Friday, 31 July, the Goulburn Mulwaree Youth Council held elections for the positions of Mayor and Deputy Mayor.
Cooper Cargill from Trinity Catholic College was elected as Youth Council Mayor, and Sehansa Ekanayake (also from Trinity Catholic College) as Youth Council Deputy Mayor.
Both Cooper and Sehansa delivered thoughtful speeches to the Youth Council.
Cooper spoke about the importance of giving young people a strong voice in Goulburn and creating more opportunities for them to get involved in their community.
Sehansa shared her journey in building confidence through leadership opportunities and spoke about the importance of listening to others, making every voice count, and creating meaningful change.
A Goulburn Mulwaree Council spokesperson told The Southern Wire that they “congratulate Cooper and Sehansa on their election, and look forward to seeing them grow in their leadership roles as they represent the voices of young people and help shape the future of the city of Goulburn.”
