Goulburn-Mulwaree Council announces Citizen of the Year nominees

Goulburn residents are being encouraged to celebrate the achievements of some of its finest citizens at this year’s Australia Day celebrations in Victoria Park.

Goulburn residents are being encouraged to celebrate the achievements of some of its finest citizens at this year’s Australia Day celebrations in Victoria Park.

The finalists for this year’s Citizen of the Year award have been named as Allison Fleming, Michelle Denney and Rita Warleigh while Simon Walsh, Isabel Venables and Chloe Croker are in the running for the Young Citizen top honour.

Other awards to be announced on the day will include Junior Sportsperson of the Year, Senior Sportsperson of the Year and Community Event of the Year.

This year’s junior sportsperson nominees are Bonnie Rose, Charles Jorgensen, Eamon Shiel and Indie Champion.

Senior sportsperson nominees are Duke Shepherd, Kristy Robertson and Makayla Jones.

Nominees for the Community Event of the Year include the Goulburn Rodeo, Goulburn Physie Interclub and International Day of People with a Disability Celebration Goulburn 2025.

Plenty of offer at Victoria Park for Goulburn’s Australia Day celebrations

Goulburn’s Australia Day celebrations will kick off at 7.30am with a free breakfast followed by a junior cricket match on Seiffert Oval from 8.30am.

There will be a citizenship ceremony at 9am followed by the official Australia Day ceremony at 10am featuring First Nations performances, local choirs, an address from the Australia Day

Ambassador, Barry Griffiths and the presentation of this year’s Australia Day awards.

There will be market stall, food vendors, liver entertainment and free family activities throughout the day until 2pm.
