Today we celebrated our 49th Birthday with Members and 5 guests from Goulburn and surrounds at the Goulburn Soldiers Club where we enjoyed a delicious meal.
Today we celebrated our 49th Birthday with Members and 5 guests from Goulburn and surrounds at the Goulburn Soldiers Club where we enjoyed a delicious meal. Birthdays were celebrated by Gloria Porter, Margaret Granger, Pat White, Dot McCabe, Jenny Townsend, Heather Price and Brenda Writer.
It is with much pleasure that we at Goulburn Day View Club wish our member Dot McCabe a wonderful 101st birthday this month and we hope you enjoy and celebrate your 101st birthday with your family and friends.
We send our thoughts and prayers to Margaret Todkill’s family on her passing. Margaret joined the Goulburn Day View Club in April 2013 and remained a member until the end of 2025 when she had to resign due to health issues.
Our guest speaker today was Sister Bernadette Mary Walsh who was an entertaining and eloquent speaker. Sister Bernadette Mary Walsh is an active pastoral care provider and community worker associated with the Goulburn Catholic Mission in Goulburn, New South Wales. She serves the local community through programs like Warrigal and regional outreach.
She frequently presents and shares her experiences working with the St Vincent de Paul Society to local schools and community groups in the Goulburn area such as St Joseph’s Primary School Goulburn North. She previously moved into the St Joseph’s Convent apartments in Goulburn following her community work and transition from Taralga.
She has served in Hanwood, Temora, Canberra, Batlow, Ungarie and is known as “the Flying Nun’ in Coolamon. Sister Bernadette received an Australia Day Award for Decorated Cakes and nut rolls which she baked as a fundraiser for Church, School and Fire Brigade Stalls. She is also an avid Canberra Raiders fan!
Raffles were won by Barbara Croker, Dianne Wilkinson, Kayleen Tremble. Lucky door prizes won by Margaret Webb, Pam Denning, Geraldine Hunt, Jenni Aubrey, Carol Olsen, Trish Casey and Diane Wilkinson. The lucky programme won by Margaret Stewart and the lucky number was won today by Joan Scott.
A reminder that we will be having a ‘’Cakeless’’ Cake Stall in October, so bring your money with you!
As Christmas is just around the corner it would be appreciated if you would consider which items you can donate for the Christmas Hampers in December and we are very grateful for the support our members give us each year with their donated items for these hampers.
Another reminder that our November meeting will be on Tuesday 3rd November, 2026 Melbourne Cup Day so please come along as there could be some surprises happening on this day!
We have been advised by Goulburn Evening View Club that they are having an early celebration of their 55th Birthday with a Fashion Parade of clothing provided by The Red Cross Shop, 13th October 2026 at 5.30pm for drinks and nibbles and 6.30p.m. for the Fashion Parade followed by Dinner at Wollondilly Gardens Hall. Cost is $25.RSVP wendywise43@gmail.com or 0438 799 937 by 6th October 2026.
Our next social day will be Thursday 17th September 2026 at the Coffee Club in the Goulburn Square, at 11.30a.m. for a 12noon start. Names to be given to Margaret Gooch by 7pm on Monday 14th September 2026. If you have put your name down to attend and are then unable to attend, please let Margaret know by this date as well.
The October meeting will be Thursday 1st October 2026 11am for 11.30am at the Goulburn Soldiers Club. Please contact Margaret Gooch (02) 4822 1859 or 0409 904 917 before 7p.m the Monday before the luncheon if you wish to attend. You can also text or email your acceptance to mgooch65@gmail.com.
