There will be full fairways at the Moss Vale Golf Club today (Friday) for the inaugural Angel Cup Charity Golf Day.

The event has been organised as a celebration of - and a thank you to - the first responders, service personnel and volunteers who serve the Southern Highlands with courage and compassion.

It follows hot on the heels of another successful fundraising event for Reject Repoly at the same venue.

The Angels event was originally scheduled for March 27 but was postponed after wet weather made the course unplayable.

The rescheduled date has been embraced by the community and the Angel Cup is now officially sold out, with a full field of 76 players set to take to the fairways.

Leading the way as Premium Event Sponsor is Highland Southern Highlands.

“Living and working here in the Southern Highlands, I see first-hand how much our community relies on the quiet dedication of our first responders and volunteers,” said Carina Nesci, Agency Principal of Highland Southern Highlands.

“For me, supporting them isn’t an optional extra, it’s a shared responsibility if we want a safer, stronger and more connected community.

“That’s why backing Angels in Our Town means so much to me personally.”

“This day is about gratitude,” said Rob Sampson, Director of Angels in Our Town.

“Our first responders and volunteers are the quiet heart of the Highlands - the people who show up at house fires, road accidents, floods and the toughest days families ever face, often after a long day at their own job.

“The Angel Cup is a day of fun and fundraising that powers our ‘thank you’ events for first responders and volunteers throughout the year and a great way for the wider community to get behind them.”

Players will tee off in a shotgun start at 12 noon in the social Ambrose format - perfect for seasoned golfers and beginners alike.

The day will begin with a sumptuous Wagyu BBQ lunch from Wildwood Hill, followed by on-course challenges including the Above 8 Finance longest drive and the Wildwood Hill closest to the pin and refreshments from award-winning Powder Monkey Brewing.

Play will wrap up at the 19th Hole from 4pm with presentations, finger food and the crowning of the first-ever Angel Cup winners.

A raffle on the day will feature standout prizes including a Stay & Play escape at Bonville Golf.

Across the Southern Highlands, volunteer Rural Fire Service crews, SES units, Fire & Rescue, ambulance officers and police give thousands of hours each year — fighting fires, clearing storm damage, responding to road incidents and supporting neighbours in crisis.

“Angels in Our Town exists to recognise, celebrate and support these everyday angels and the organisations that stand behind them,” Sampson said.

“They look after us, and we look after them,

“As always, the community has truly got behind this one, and our intention is for the Angel Cup to become a legacy event on the Highlands calendar for many years to come.”
