Opponents of the proposed RePoly plastics recycling facility in Moss Vale have launched a final fundraising push to help fund action in the Land and Environment Court.

Reject RePoly says it is just $10,000 short of the figure it needs to fund an appeal in the Land and Environment Court, scheduled to commence on Monday, October 19.

After putting out a call on Monday for a final $30,000, Reject Repoly has already raised $20,000 with $10,000 in community donations matched dollar for dollar by Berida Manor

"This is it - the final push," Peter Barge from Reject RePoly Inc said today (Friday).

"Families across the Highlands have already given so generously.

“We are $10,000 away from making sure our community has the legal representation it deserves.

“Every $50 counts."

For every $50 donation, residents will receive a ticket in a draw for $13,500 in local prizes.

Those prizes – all generously donated by local businesses – include $5000 worth of trees and plants from Winter Hill Tree Farm and $5000 worth of goods from the Gubbins Moss Vale range of companies including Gubbins Mitre 10, Total Tools, Beta Electrical, Mittagong Designer Appliances and Highlands Selection Centre.

The $5,000 voucher will be redeemable at all of those outlets.

Also up for a grabs is a private Christmas cocktail party for 20 people catered for by Brigid Kennedy of The Loch.

The prize is valued at $3500.

Entries will close at 11.59pm on October 18 with the draw to take place at 4pm on October 19.

Local residents have fought the proposal from the start, raising serious concerns about pollution and health impacts in close proximity to family homes, a day care facility and the Garvan Institute’s medical research facility.

When RePoly appealed a decision by the Independent Planning Commission (IPC) to reject its proposal, Sam Wood stepped up as respondent - backed by Southern Highlands Matters Inc - to make sure local voices are heard in court.

Local residents and businesses have supported a number of fundraisers in recent months to help ensure she is properly represented.
