Goulburn’s Belmore Park will come alive with colour, music and culture when the Goulburn Multicultural Centre hosts the Goulburn Multicultural Festival this Saturday 14 February, inviting the community to celebrate the diversity that makes the region unique.

Now in its 20th year, and as one of the city’s most vibrant annual events, the festival will feature more than 20 local and visiting cultural groups.

Heni Hardi, manager of the Goulburn Multicultural Centre and one of the organisers of the event, will also be the emcee on stage, surrounded by around 200 performers throughout the day.

On between 10am and 4pm there will be a lot for everyone to enjoy.

The festival will feature food, music and dance from 20 different nations represented in various forms, along with kids' activities, community markets, and a variety of interesting and informative community stalls as well.

“The non-stop lively program will include the Borobudur Indonesian Dance Troupe, South American Rio Dancers, Hellenic Greek Traditional Dance, Baila Chile Dance, Ukrainian Dance Troup, Bollywood, Momposina Colombian Dance, ‘Swish n Shimmy’ Tribal Bellydance, Quake Belly Dance, Filipino Dancers, Classical Dancers from India, and many more,” Ms. Hardi told The Southern Wire.

“The event will also open and close with Latino Beat Zumba and anyone is welcome to join them on stage to participate.”

Many local community services will also provide lots of information about living in Goulburn, including how to access the many services that are available now or maybe needed in the future.

Activities for kids also include free face painting and henna temporary tattoos.

Mayor Nina Dillon and local councillors will officially welcome everyone to the festival at noon.

“I wish to express my thanks to the NSW Government, Goulburn Mulwaree Council and all involved for their support to help make this a successful event,” Ms. Hardi added.

Belmore Park is located right in the centre of Goulburn at 173 Auburn St.

Entry is free for spectators.
