Plans are being finalised for the fourth annual Penrose Art Exhibition.

This year’s exhibition will be officially opened on the evening of Friday, April 17 by artist and director of the Mosman School of Fine Art, Kristin Coburn.

The opening night soiree will be held at the Penrose Village Hall from 6pm to 9pm.

Tickets are $45 and are available online at www.trybooking.com

The opening night will feature the auction of a specially commissioned inaugural artwork by comedian and Southern Highlands local, Lawrence Mooney.

The exhibition will continue on the weekend of April 18 and 19 between 10am and 4pm with entry via gold coin donation.

Creative Director Emma Dunnage said this year’s exhibition would feature leading and emerging artists from the local southern and outlying villages of the Southern Highlands.

It is expected to attract hundreds of people from regional NSW, Wollongong, Goulburn, Sydney and Canberra.

Organisers say this year’s exhibition will feature “diverse artists and artworks” including traditional expressions in paint to bold statements in metalwork, from contemporary ceramic creations to evocative photographic images and thought-provoking natural fibre weaving.

All artwork will be for sale.

The annual exhibition is presented by the Penrose Community Association.
