EXCLUSIVE: NSW Upper House investigation launched
The NSW Upper House has today launched an inquiry

The NSW Upper House has today launched an inquiry into the NSW Electoral Commission’s administration of electoral donation reporting in the Electoral District of Kogarah between 2014-2016. The committee’s report will address “matters raised in ICAC’s Operation Aero and its findings of corruption in 2022”
Premier Chris Minns was elected as the Member for Kogarah in 2015.
ICAC’s Operation Aero considered claims that a Chinese billionaire delivered $100,000 cash in an ALDI bag to the Labor party.
The now Premier Chris Minns said in 2019 that NSW Labor had “let down” the State. Minns, according to the Sydney Morning Herald, handed back $10,000 in donations. The Herald reported Minns “handed back $10,000 from a series of fake donors tied to a Chinese billionaire who was banned from making political donations”. The herald added that Minns “also expressed regret over a 5-day trip to China, which was funded by a political donor with close ties to the Chinese Communist Party”
ICAC held in 2022 that a former Labor MP had engaged in corrupt conduct. ICAC further held that a developer made a $100,000 cash donation to Labor despite a prohibition on developers making political donations.
The Southern Wire has submitted questions to the Premier. We do not suggest any wrong doing by the Premier.
We will keep readers updated on this story.
