Every sausage will make a difference for RDA
Local residents are being encouraged to support Riding for the Disabled Moss Vale Centre at a special fundraising BBQ in Moss Vale this Saturday (September 12) and help the long-standing local service continue its essential work with children and adults living with disability.

Community partner Moss Vale Lions will host the sausage sizzle at Gubbins Mitre 10 from 8am to 1pm with all proceeds supporting RDA Moss Vale Centre at Hollyhall Farm, Avoca.
The centre urgently needs funds to keep operating and continue providing its highly valued fortnightly program.
The local RDA centre has enriched lives through safe and enjoyable horse-related activities for more than 50 years.
Founded in 1972 by Pearl Batchelor OAM, the centre first operated at Throsby Park in Moss Vale, later moved to Fitzroy Falls Equestrian Centre and is now based at Hollyhall Farm.
Fully qualified coaches and trained assistants deliver sessions every second Wednesday morning during school terms for participants from throughout the Southern Highlands.
The activities help children and adults build confidence, skills, connection and enjoyment through working with horses and ponies in a supportive environment.
RDA Moss Vale Secretary Leeonie Douglas said the centre had provided a safe and welcoming place for more than 50 years where people living with disability can build confidence, develop skills and experience the very special connection that comes from working with horses.
“We are now facing a very real funding challenge and need our community’s help to continue operating.
“We are deeply grateful to Moss Vale Lions and Gubbins Mitre 10 Southern Highlands for standing beside us.
“Every sausage purchased this Saturday will make a genuine difference.”
RDA relies heavily on volunteers, community donations and in-kind support.
Horse experience is not required to volunteer, as help is needed across many different roles.
Its dedicated volunteers, coaches, assistants and very special horses and ponies are the backbone of the program.
RDA Moss Vale is inviting Southern Wire readers from across the Highlands to visit the BBQ and to meet Teddy the pony and help turn a simple Saturday sausage sizzle into practical support for a vital local program.
Teddy will be there between 10.30am and 1pm.
