Enrolments open for new Wilton High School
Enrolments have opened for students wanting to attend Wilton High School next year.

Enrolments have opened for students wanting to attend Wilton High School next year.
The NSW Government is accepting online applications from families wanting to enrol students in Years 7 and 8 at the new school.
Member for Wollondilly Judy Hannan has described the news as “exciting”.
As previously reported by The Southern Wire, work on three new education facilities in Picton – a high school, primary school and pre-school – commenced late last year.
Mrs Hannan – who was a strong advocate for the projects alongside Deputy Premier and Minister for Education Pru Car – said work was now “well underway”.
The new high school will be built in stages with a three-story building containing 12 classrooms to be ready for the start of the 2027 school year along with a modern library, a full-sized sports field and a sports court.
Additional buildings will be ready for the 2028 school year including additional classrooms, a school hall, vocational educational facilities and two more sports courts.
Enrolments for next year will be limited to 187, however when completed the high school will cater for 1000 students.
It will be the first the first high school in Wilton and only the second public high school in Wollondilly.
Mrs Hannan said the catchment boundary for the new high school, as a guide, was the same as the Wilton suburb boundary.
Applications will be accepted from students living in West Wilton (off Wilton Park Road), North Wilton (Panorama), Bingara Gorge, Wilton Greens and established areas of Wilton between Bingara Gorge and Broughton Pass.
The new schools will ensure families in the rapidly growing area have access to world-class education from pre-school to Year 12 without having to travel.
High school students from Wilton currently have to travel 16 kilometres to attend Picton High School.
According to information on the NSW Government’s website, the school will cater for students in Year 7, 8 and 9 in 2028 and will have its first Year 7-12 cohort in 2031.
The staggered enrolment process is considered normal for new schools across the state.
“The process of growing a school allows adequate numbers of students and teaching staff to deliver a full curriculum based on the elective preferences of the students at the school,” the website says.
“The gradual process allows the school to develop the culture, while establishing systems and processes in consultation with key stakeholders to reflect the school’s growing identity.”
The new primary school and pre school are also scheduled to open by the first day of the 2027 school year.
The new primary school will feature 24 classrooms with shared common areas and multipurpose spaces, three support learning classes with dedicated amenities, a covered outdoor learning area (COLA), a modern library and multipurpose hall with canteen.
There will also be facilities for outside of school hours care, administration facilities and staff areas.
Mrs Hannan has again thanked the NSW Government for listening to her concerns and for “delivering for the Wollondilly community”.
She has also thanked local residents for being so vocal in their push for new education facilities.
“With the many voices I was able to represent them and take their concerns to the Minister for Education and Premier who have listened and delivered for our community,” Mrs Hannan said.
