Join the Southern Highlands Symphony Orchestra on Saturday and Sunday 29 and 30 November at the Bowral Memorial Hall for an unforgettable concert series as the SHSO weaves together their colourful mix of concert pieces.

Sample some Elgar with his vibrant snapshot of the Victorian era in all its confident splendour in the ‘Imperial March’ and Gustav Holst’s vivid imagery of the rolling hills and peaceful villages of the English county of Somerset in his ‘Somerset Rhapsody.’

Then a taste of Franz Schubert at his melodic best with the incidental ‘Music for Rosamunde’ and Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg’s continued reflection on that mischievous character Peer Gynt in the ‘Peer Gynt Suite No. 2’.

And although Mozart reputedly detested the flute, he produced several wonderful concertos for the instrument.

The SHSO’s principal flute Zoe Andrews, will present his lovely and lyrical ‘Flute Concerto in D.’

And as a salute to the rapidly approaching festive season, the orchestra will play ‘Christmas Crackers,’ a cheerful arrangement of carols specially composed for the SHSO by Southern Highlands composer John Corley.

“This festive potpourri offers some musical magic for everyone,” a spokesperson from the SHSO told The Southern Wire.

The SHSO festive concerts will be held on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th November in the Bowral Memorial Hall.

Tickets are available from www.trybooking.com/DFAXC.

Another exciting year of great music is planned for 2026, with subscriptions for all concerts still available.

The orchestra recommends getting in early to save and find a favourite seat, or a subscription might be a special gift for someone for the festive season.

To subscribe, visit www.shso.org.au/subscriptions.

And for any more information about the orchestra, contact Jenette Styles on 0416 380 567.
