A driver has been charged following a multi-truck crash in the Southern Tablelands last month.

At about 5am on Tuesday 30 June, emergency services were called to the Windmills Rest Area parking northbound on the Hume Highway, Breadalbane, about 32km southwest of Goulburn, following reports of a multi-vehicle crash and fire.

Fire and Rescue NSW responded and extinguished the blaze, which involved six semi-trailers.

All six trucks were destroyed.

NSW Ambulance responded and treated all six male drivers for minor injuries.

Two drivers, aged 23 and 28, were taken to Goulburn Base Hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers attached to The Hume Police District commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash, with assistance from the Crash Investigation Unit.

Initial investigations suggest the two trucks collided and became alight before the fire spread to four other trucks that were parked in the rest bay nearby.

Following inquiries, a 28-year-old man was served a Future Court Attendance Notice, charged with negligent driving (no death or grievous bodily harm), on Tuesday 14 July.

He is due to appear before Yass Local Court on Thursday 27 August.
