Yass Valley residents will get their first official look inside the new Crago Mill precinct this Saturday, with council hosting a community open day to mark the official opening.
Yass Valley residents will get their first official look inside the new Crago Mill precinct this Saturday, with council hosting a community open day to mark the official opening.
The event will be held on Saturday, May 9, at the site on Comur Street, with a ribbon cutting scheduled for 9.30am.
The precinct brings together council services, a new library, community spaces and an emergency operations centre in one location, replacing the old administrative setup.
Locals will be able to walk through the new facilities, take part in activities in the library and enjoy a sausage sizzle at a community barbecue.
A silent auction of surplus council furniture will also be held in the old customer service building from 10am to 1pm on the day, with a second sale planned for May 16.
Yass Valley Mayor Jasmin Jones said the opening marked a major milestone for the town, describing the precinct as a long-term investment in the region’s civic infrastructure.
Council CEO Gayleen Burley said staff had already moved into the new building, with the upgraded facilities expected to support service delivery and attract staff.
Final landscaping works are still underway, with additional features including a yarning circle and public artworks planned.
