Commemorating a centenary of Highlands women
The Moss Vale Country Women's Association (CWA) is gearing up for their centenary celebrations to be held tomorrow (Tuesday 25 August) at their rooms at 66 Elizabeth Street.
The Moss Vale Country Women's Association (CWA) is gearing up for their centenary celebrations to be held tomorrow (Tuesday 25 August) at their rooms at 66 Elizabeth Street.
They have also had a display in some glass cabinets at the Moss Vale Services Club over the past two months detailing the history of the organisation in the town.
"We are opening up our rooms with some things on display including old clothes, technology from over the years and even domestic equipment such as irons, etc," Moss Vale CWA President, Kerry Wood-Davies told The Southern Wire.
The rooms will be open from 10:30am to 4pm, with tea and coffee on offer as well as trading displays and even a visit from the students of Moss Vale Public School.
"The Moss Vale CWA supports a whole range of community initiatives, including supporting schools with scholarships; providing dignity and hospital packs for both women and men; domestic violence support and even natural disaster support, too," Mrs. Wood Davies added.
"There are seven branches of the CWA across the Southern Highlands, including us, the Moss Vale Evening Branch, Bundanoon, Bowral (who celebrated their centenary in 2025), Mittagong, Exeter and the Southern Highlands Evening Branch (SHE)."
The branch will also host a high tea at Dormie House this Saturday August 29, with NSW CWA State President Tanya Jolly in attendance, complete with a slide show on display with the history of the branch from 1926 to the present day.
Tickets to the high tea will be $45, and to RSVP, let Mrs. Wood Davies know as soon as possible.
