The Robertson Chamber of Commerce is urging local residents to throw their support behind plans for a new veterinary hospital in Hoddle Street.

Wingecarribee Shire Council is currently seeking submissions on plans for alterations and additions to an existing building at 24 Hoddle Street to accommodate the hospital.

It would consist of two consulting rooms and a surgery as well as numerous storage and ancillary rooms.

There would be a total of four carparking spaces on the site with access from Burrawang Lane at the rear.

The hospital would operate with one veterinarian and one veterinary nurse on duty, 8am-7pm seven days a week, and would provide for small animal consultations, surgical procedures and after-hours/emergency call outs.

A spokesperson for the Robertson Chamber of Commerce said the proposed hospital would be “great” for local residents who would no longer have to travel for quality veterinary care for their pets.

“It’s also an important move towards boosting mid-week activity in town, strengthening our economy and providing employment opportunities.”

The spokesperson encouraged everyone “as excited (about the proposal) as we are” to lodge a supportive submission.

“We are very aware of some great proposals that have been lost as the applicant runs the gauntlet of the council assessment process – and we know that the number of supportive submissions does count.”

Submissions on the DA for the proposed veterinary hospital will close on Wednesday, August 19 and can be made via council’s DA Tracker at wsc.nsw.gov.au

The DA number is 27/0029.
