Bush fire danger period brought forward
The Bush Fire Danger Period for the Wingecarribee and Wollondilly local government areas has been bought forward to September 14.

A NSW Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS) spokesperson said the decision had been made due to prevailing dry conditions.
This means that a Fire Permit will be required from September 14 to light or maintain a fire in the open.
Residents and landholders should also ensure they understand the rules around the use of fire.
Besides obtaining a permit they also need to notify their local fire authority and neighbours of their intention to burn 24 hours in advance. To apply for a Fire Permit visit www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/notify
Those people wanting to conduct a burn are advised to give as much notice as possible as a Fire Permit Officer will need to visit their property before issuing a permit. For more information, visit the RFS website: www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/BFDP
A NSW RFS spokesperson said crews had responded to numerous escaped burns across the state over the past few days.
“While fire agencies and land managers will be closely monitoring areas where hazard reduction burns have been conducted earlier this week, we are also asking landholders to closely monitor their own burns,” the spokesperson said,
Locally, hazard reduction burns were conducted in the High Range (Soapy Flat) and Warragamba/Silverdale areas.
The Bush Fire Danger Period typically begins across most of the state on October 1 and continues through until March 31 the following year.
As already reported by The Southern Wire, warmer and drier-than-average conditions during autumn have left many parts of the state unusually dry, increasing the risk of spring fire activity and raising concerns over the potential severity of summer bushfires.
