Body located following search for missing man near Oberon

The body of a man has been located following a search for a missing worker on a dam at Jaunter, between Taralga and Oberon in the early hours of this morning.

The body of a man has been located following a search for a missing worker on a dam at Jaunter, between Taralga and Oberon in the early hours of this morning.

About 7:30am emergency services were called to Clover Hills Rd, Jaunter – about 42km south of Oberon and 70kms north east of Taralga in the Gurnang National Park – following reports a canoe had overturned.

Officers attached to the Chifley Police District – with assistance from the State Emergency Service – arrived and began searching for two men.

A man, believed to be aged in his 30’s, was able to swim ashore.

However, the body of the other man, a 29-year-old, was located in the water around 9:15am.

The incident will be investigated by Safework NSW and a report will also be prepared for the Coroner.
