An accidental bushfire that has been burning since yesterday afternoon was apparently started by chainsaw operations on a property on Hawkshill Rd at Canyonleigh, according to the RFS.

The blaze burnt through 48 hectares (118.6 acres) and is still at an Advice alert level with a status of 'being controlled' as of 3:30pm this afternoon (Wednesday 10 December), according to the RFS Fires Near Me app.

Rural Fire Service Superintendant Daniel Osborne told The Southern Wire that there were all hands on deck to control the fire.

"We had numerous ground crews as well as aircraft on hand to keep the blaze under control as well as favourable weather conditions," Mr. Osborne said.

This blaze is just one of many across the state to start this Summer season.

There is also a 93 hectare (229.8 acre) blaze located at Wee Jasper Rd in Cavan in the Yass Valley, with an alert level of Advice, and a status of 'Under Control'.
