New growers market a cooperative thing
A new Growers Market has officially launched at the Bowral Co-Op in Kirkham Rd.
A new Growers Market has officially launched at the Bowral Co-Op in Kirkham Rd.
Their inaugural markets were held last Thursday on site in the car park of the facility and will be held weekly every Thursday with a variety of market stalls on offer from local small businesses including Millsheds Distillery, Mussett Farm Holdings, Bees R’ Us, fresh fruit and vegetables from the Moss Vale Public School children’s garden, and a whole lot more.
“These markets are all about the community of the Southern Highlands, and the Bowral Co-Op has been part of this community for 99 years now,” Co-Op General Manager Greg Welsh told The Southern Wire.
“Our tagline for the company is ‘Growing Together,’ which I think is very fitting.”
Market Coordinator Lauren O’Brien stated that although the markets only started off small with only a few stalls to choose from, this will steadily grow.
“Like every venture, we've started small today, but I guarantee that as the weeks go by we will increase the number of stalls and have a lot more people coming through,” Ms. O’Brien said.
“Growers buy their fertilizer and seeds from the Co-Op, so it’s a ‘circular economy’ situation.”
The markets are held in the grounds of the Bowral Co-Op, 85 Kirkham Rd, Bowral every Thursday from 3pm to 5:30pm.
