Man charged with firearm and break and enter offences in the Hume Police District

A man has been charged with multiple firearm and break and enter offences following an ongoing investigation in the Southern Tablelands since December 2025.

A man has been charged with multiple firearm and break and enter offences following an ongoing investigation in the Southern Tablelands since December 2025.

About 1.30am on Saturday 20 December 2025, police responded to an earthworks yard to Fauldner Street, Yass, following reports of a break and enter.

Officers were told a tipper truck, excavator and heavy vehicle trailer – with an estimated value of $228,000 – were allegedly stolen from the property.

Officers attached to The Hume Police District responded and commenced inquiries.

About 5pm on Wednesday 24 December 2025, officers attached to the Rural Crime Prevention Team and The Hume Police District executed a search warrant at a property on Pomeroy Mill Ford Road, Mummel, approximately 20km north-east of Goulburn.

Police seized CCTV for forensic examination.

On Wednesday 31 December 2025, officers attached to the Rural Crime Prevention Team recovered the allegedly stolen motor vehicles and earth works machines at a rural property in Mummel.

After extensive investigations, on Monday 9 February officers issued a 34-year-old man with a court attendance notice for 14 offences;

  • four counts of steal motor vehicle,

  • use, supply, acquire, possess stolen firearm or part,

  • possess unauthorised firearm;

  • two counts of possess ammunition w/o holding licence/permit/authority;

  • break & enter house etc. steal value >$60,000;

  • three counts of goods suspected stolen in/on premises (m/v); and

  • two counts of dishonestly possess interfered with unique identifier.

He was refused bail to appear before Goulburn Local Court on Wednesday 25 February.

Police will also allege in court the man was involved in the alleged theft of firearms from a property in Baw Baw in November 2025, and the theft of a car from a car yard in Homebush in August 2025.

Investigations are ongoing.
