A 37-year-old man has been refused bail after allegedly making sexualised comments to a receptionist at a Goulburn medical centre before fleeing police and later being accused of engaging in a lewd act outside a nearby childcare centre.
About 8:00am on Tuesday 17 February 2026, officers attached to Goulburn Police Station were called to a medical centre on Fenwick Crescent following reports a receptionist had been repeatedly approached by a man who allegedly made sexualised comments and behaved in a lewd manner towards her.
Police arrived and sighted the man, however he fled the area on foot, prompting a search of surrounding streets.
A short time later, police received a second report relating to a man outside a childcare centre on Lagoon Street. A staff member observed the man outside the fenced area of the centre before he allegedly engaged in a lewd act directed towards her. The centre was placed into lockdown as a precaution.
The man again fled the scene.
Police pursued the alleged offender through residential streets, fenced yards and open spaces as he attempted to evade officers.
During the search, Essential Energy workers operating in an elevated work platform in Lagoon Street used their vantage point to assist police, directing officers to the man’s movements as he travelled through backyards, climbed fences and attempted to conceal himself.
After the man ran through a private residence, police apprehended him. A brief struggle ensued before he was subdued and taken into custody.
The man was charged with intimidation, carry out a sexual act without consent, and enter enclosed land.
He was refused bail by police and is expected to appear before the Bail Division of the Local Court on Wednesday 18 February 2026.
Police thanked members of the public for promptly reporting the incidents and acknowledged the assistance of Essential Energy personnel in the response.
Anyone with information about suspicious behaviour is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or call 000 in an emergency.
